Mafia - Chole Samba

Mafia Island, together with Zanzibar and Pemba, are known as the “Spice Islands”. The island has about 40,000 inhabitants, mostly fishermen. It is one of the best places in Africa to discover the Indian Ocean as the mass tourism typical of Zanzibar can be avoided, and is just a 40 minute flight from Zanzibar and from Dar Es Salaam.

Mafia Island is the perfect destination for whoever is looking for peace and quiet in an uncontaminated natural setting. Chole Bay Marine Park is an absolute must, and thanks to its rich seabed, incomparable diving is possible. The west coast of Mafia is another must as it is the best zone for snorkelling and for sighting whale sharks.
