It borders south with the Selous reserve, and is a protected natural area in central-eastern Tanzania. Mikuni is undoubtedly affected less by international tourism and benefits from greater environmental protection. Most of the itineraries that take in Mikumi continue in the direction of Ruaha National Park and the Selous reserve. The dry season, from May to November, is the best time to visit the park.
